Motherly Love: Ceramic Tableware DesignExpressing Emotions and Traditional Chinese Culture
Motherly Love is a unique ceramic tableware design created by Ma Daoshun, Cai Lingling, and Yang Chao. Inspired by the warmth and strength of a loving family, this design combines the concept of maternal love with our daily use of tableware to convey the strong emotions of Chinese people towards "home." With its brightly colored composition and incorporation of traditional Chinese cultural elements, Motherly Love aims to promote traditional Chinese culture, including family culture, filial piety culture, and love culture.
The design of Motherly Love stands out with its portrayal of maternal love and the blooming flowers and plants, symbolizing the warmth and power brought by a warm family. Each piece of tableware is hand-painted on ceramics, dried in the air, and fired at a high temperature of 1400 degrees in a Jingdezhen kiln. The result is a collection of unique and beautifully painted ceramic tableware.
The Motherly Love collection includes a large plate measuring 270mm in width and 28mm in height, as well as a small plate measuring 205mm in width and 25mm in height. These dimensions make the tableware suitable for various dining occasions, adding a touch of elegance and cultural significance to any meal.
Creating the Motherly Love design was not without its challenges. The color changes that occur during the ceramic firing process are uncontrollable, requiring the designers to experiment and adjust the colors more than 20 times to achieve the desired results. The dedication and perseverance of the design team have resulted in a stunning and vibrant collection that captures the essence of maternal love and Chinese culture.
Motherly Love was completed in Jingdezhen, China in 2022. Each piece is made of high white clay ceramics and features the "underglaze color" in the floral paper process. The combination of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary design makes Motherly Love a truly remarkable collection.
Recognized for its excellence, Motherly Love received the Iron A' Design Award in the Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware Design category in 2023. This prestigious award is given to designs that are well-designed, practical, and innovative, meeting professional and industrial requirements. Motherly Love stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.
With its unique portrayal of maternal love and its promotion of traditional Chinese culture, Motherly Love is not just a collection of ceramic tableware, but a symbol of love, warmth, and the importance of family.
